The Sanyo 2700
The 2700 has plenty to back up its good looks, with a wealth of features at a great price. This bar-shaped CDMA messaging phone weighs in at just 3.42 ounces and is about half an inch deep--it'll fit right in your pocket. Hardware features include an integrated full QWERTY keyboard to let you text and IM with lightning speed. A 2.2-inch color LCD screen with 320 x 240 pixel resolution provides large, sharp images. A built-in speakerphone is handy for speaking to multiple parties. Bluetooth compatibility means easy pairing with wireless headsets for hands-free use. And you are free to use the stereo 2.5mm headset jack, of course.
The 2700's built-in phonebook stores up to 600 entries, e-mail and Internet addresses, and a search bar at the top of the contact list lets you scan through your database. It's a breeze to download unique ringers and assign them to numbers in your address book (phone includes 30 built-in ringers and vibration alert to start).
As hinted above, this is an ideal tool for the rampant texter. In addition to the speedy keyboard, the device boasts threaded texting, for easy message organization.
Kids will love the 1.3-megapixel camera, which captures great photos anywhere for sending via MMS or sharing on-screen in the easy-to-use gallery application. Camera features include geo-tagging, night mode, self-timer, contrast controls and more. Plenty to fiddle with.
As for entertainment, the 2700 lets you download and play interactive games, to make the bus/car ride a little more bearable. It also has an on-board MP3 player for taking a few choice tunes with you (limited by the 16MB on-board memory--those seeking a more music-oriented solution may want to look elsewhere).
Of course, it's not all about entertainment. Built-in productivity tools allow users to access a planner and scheduler, check a task list and more. Stay on top of things with a world clock, calculator, voice memo feature and alarm clock.
Finally, thanks to the 2700's GPS support, parents can take full advantage of Kajeet's phone locator security feature.
Data Features
Kajeet plans to begin offering data plans in 2009. The 2700 is ready to go, with Infraware's Polaris 6.01 WAP web browser, and an email client that supports IMAP, POP, SMTP, Outlook (OWA), and Lotus Notes protocols. Handy presets are included for AOL, AIM, Hotmail, Yahoo!, and GMail.

The Sanyo 2700 weighs 3.4 ounces and measures 4.3 x 2.4 x 0.6 inches. Its 840 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 4.8 hours of talk time. It runs on the CDMA 850/CDMA 1900 frequencies for voice.

Kajeet's GPS Phone Locator service helps both kids and parents find the kajeet phone. It uses satellite technology to help find your child's phone and gives subscribing families easy-to-use information regarding the location of their kajeet phone via Web-based maps. Parents can schedule automatic location checks at specific times of the day, so they know where their kid's kajeet phone is at any given time--whether the phone is in their child's backpack on the school bus or in their sports bag at soccer practice. Kids can also use the service to help find their phone. The GPS Phone Locator service is .99 per month.
With Kajeet, the money in your Kajeet wallet--paid in either as pay-as-you-go or as part of a monthly plan--can be used for whatever you want: texting, talking, games, ringtones and more. Plus, at no extra cost you get voicemail, caller ID, and some of the lowest talking and texting rates around. You can choose pure pay-as-you-go flexibility, and refill your wallet either online or using Kajeet refill cards (available at select retailers).
